Easter and the new site is up

Hello all, I hope you have had a wonderful easter and gorged yourselves on chocolates just like you were a kid all over again. We had a great easter. No big plans, but a nice quiet house, after months of mayhem.

Actually, there was a slight mis-communication and on easter Sunday morning when Robbie woke me up - at 4.30 no less ggrrrr - to ask where the girls eggs were, (to place on the ends of their beds), it dawned on me that I had not bought any. The day before Robbie had shown me a gift each he had bought the girls (which were supposed to accompany the eggs I had bought), we had a brief discussion about not going overboard with the amount of hunting eggs and so off I went and bought just a small bag of hunting eggs and nothing else.

So on Sunday early early morning when I realised they only had a little gift for the ends of their beds I felt so dreadful. Now I am not sure how everyone else celebrates and how much each of you all consider is enough, but for me, I try to emmulate my childhood easters, birthdays and christmases as they were so special and I remember loving them so much and want that for my kids. Long story short I had not recreated an easter morning like the ones we used to wake too and it had me feeling so sad and guilty. After a few tears, (which I also attribute to the ungodly hour!), Robbie hopped in the car and went down to the service station - 5am- and bought the girls each a couple more eggs for the ends of their beds.

I re-read this paragraph and can imagine the groans and eye rolling some may feel when reading the above sentiment and the critical belief of how commercial and consumerist and essentially unimportant my concerns seemed. All I can say is that I had an expectation of how I wanted the girls to experience their easter, we are not religious so the celebration for us is purely easter bunnies, dad being at home for an extended period and lots of yummy chocolate. The latter was where I felt I had failed. lol OK rant over, perhaps I have mistaken my nice safe blog for one of those parenting forums where soap boxes are ever present!

After that unpleasant start to the day, the kids woke, and off they went out to the backyard to check if the easter bunny had bought any yummy treats. Which of course, he had!

I gave myself most of the long easter weekend off, partly procrastinating and partly well deserved...lol.
On Sunday night I decided to get back to it and get this website up and running. After a few hiccups and trying my very best to figure out dns hosting and other such boring but necessary tasks, I saw my site go live last night...so here is the link: www.lilyskyparties.com.au

At this early stage, the products catergory is fairly limited till I can get some photos taken of the paper goods. I am currently designing some generic but hopefully wide reaching themed goods to add to the collection. At the moment only the rainbow range of goods feature as they are the only photos of the products I have available.

The Melbourne child magazine comes out early may, so be sure to grab yourself a copy, they are free and are such an excellent resource for ideas on where to take the kids when you have exhausted all the usual suspects. I often forget and will randomly pick up a copy and find so much information, everytime I wonder why I wait so long between issues!

Well it's back to it tommorrow, kindy starts back, which I know Skyla is so looking forward to, Robbie is back at work, (not quite as enthusiastic) & me, well I finally get my house back, my routine with the kids and can now implement some much needed work time around our usual running household.

Hope you all have enjoyed your time off.

New exciting territory

Well, it feels llike it has been far too long since my last post and I promised myself i would blog tonight. All the interstate rellies have gone home from their visit for the wedding, (including mum :( ), My sister has left for two weeks on her honey moon and i finally have had some time to ponder where i am at with LilySky.

First things first, i must post a piccy or two of the beautiful wedding. Despite being a really long day with some funny dramas along the way, it was a beautiful affair and everyone had a great time!

Mummy and the munchkins

The happy Couple

Now they are off on their honeymoon on a secluded tropical island, ENJOY GUYS xoxox

As soon as i dropped mum at the airport today the wheels began turning, trying to pick up where i left off with lilysky was a touch overwhelming. Perhaps coupled with the reality of not seeing mum again for another year and facing a terribly untidy house.....i just had no idea where to begin. I had been spending any and all freetime trying to get a simple but 'pretty' and functional website up. The whole process, admitedlly was a little rushed, i picked up a copy of melbourne child and discovered that the following months issue was going to be a "party special" i noticed that the deadline for advertisement submisiions was coming up and so it all seemed so ",meant to be" - Kismet!

Somehow i ended up with two websites, both of which were not optimal for one reason or another. Finally i took DP advise and called his brother, who pointed me in the direction of both a great domain name site as well as a great web builder site, Thanks Jase xo
So now i am well on the way to getting the website up and looking good and the ad went to print today, (in true lilysky fashion, i was just in time to add the new webaddress to it).

Now I did finally get those professional shots of the hens night so i will flood the rest of tonights blog with the gorgeous pics.

The hens night was quite a few months in planning I had wonderful help from my friend Tara. I went to the bigger op shops, like Savers and found some really beautiful tea cups that we deliberately mismatched with saucers, then printed little tags so each guest had their own cup for the night. There were quite a few guests and to create height on the table i stacked the tea cups and saucers.

The eat me cookies each guest received in their own unique and personalised tea cup.

The tables were filled with yummy 'tea party' treats, like beautiful ribbon sandwiches, delicious slices and cakes and pots of tea filled with various cocktails. Brightly coloured and varying sized paper lanterns ran above the center of the table.

There were two normal sized teapots that had 'G & Tea' in them on the outdoor table and there were two giant, oversized teapots that were filled with Vodka and Orange, little teapots were sat beside each giant one,  with grenadine in one and galliano in the other. A little 'Tent Card' indicated that by adding a dash from the little teapots to the vodka and orange drinks you could create a whole new cocktail; the harvey wallbanger or a vodka sunrise.

The little grenadine filled teapot.

I made 'teabag' tags to stick out of all of the teapots, both as decoration and also to indicate to guests what cocktail they are drinking.

Taras' dad is a chef and made these delicious and super cute sandwiches. Thanks Trevor.

Paper flowers of all colours and sizes adorned the chairs. Such a simple but pretty and inexpensive decoration.

We had cute tiny glass bottles with corks filled with chambord and coloured with a dash of colouring and attached little 'drink me' tags to them.

This was the entryway, we created a rabbithole out of paper mache and real ivy vine clippings. To the side was a quaint little table and chair with a stainless steel tea cup and saucer and a photoframe with the following quote inside:

"There is a place like no place on earth, a land full of wonder, mystery and danger. Some say to survive it, you need to be mad as a hatter" - The Mad Hatter

The Bride to be, (well in this pic anyway). I got this cute Alice outfit for her off ebay.

That Is the end of the blog for tonight. I hope you all enjoy these pics as much as i did. Thank You so much to Neil, from Neil Prieto Photography for taking these gorgeous pics. Thanks to Tazza and her mum and dad for all their help too, making some of the yummy treats and sacrificing the lushness of their ivy plant so our rabbithole would look great :)

Check out my new site here - Still a fair way off being finnished,( should be live within the next day at the moment it may direct you to crazy domains), but should be ready to take orders, by May. Here is my temporary site. If you know of anyone throwing a party or wanting their special event to be different, personal and gorgeous please point them my way.

Night all, It has been a full Day. Sweet Dreams

Sneak peek POst

Ok this is going to be a super quickie, So much is going on and i have just been so ridiculously busy that my poor little blog is being neglected.

Just wanted to alert you all that the professional photos for the hens came in. I am still wanting to get Lilys rainbow birthday party pics up too, but here is a little sneak peek at a couple of the beautiful shots from the hens. It is 12.10am exactly so technically it is wednesday which means only two more days till my sisters wedding! Exciting. It also means that a long overdue sense of normality will return. We have been working so hard on so many parties and also the wedding since October now.

Also, although under construction the lilysky website is up now, Not much to look at yet, once the wedding is over i will be able to really work on it, in the meantime here is the address: www.lilyskyparties.webs.com I also got the business logo designed this week, which was just in time for my ad in melbourne childs May "party" issue! keep an eye out for it.

Ok my baby girls will be waking me up in approximately 5 hours, it's been so early lately :( I had better head off to bed. Night all

A Long Week.....A short post

So much has happened in the last 9 days. Last Wednesday a wonderful girlfriend of mine called me early in the morning to tell me to call a Radio station as they were randomly drawing numbers and if those numbers were your birthday and month you could win $1000, better yet, if you had watched "winners & losers" the night before and could answer a question you could win $5000!

Well long story short, i got through and won the money, the $5000!!! Yay, super exciting. On the friday, i turned my computer on and POP, it just blew and so i have been without a computer for the past week! Hence the lack of new posts.

I also have my wonderful Cuzzy down from Brisbane, for my sisters wedding in 7 days. She took me out to see Hairspray the musical on Wednesday night, it was really good. We had great seats and it was such a rare treat....and yes, of course, my sisters wedding next week. It's all happening!

Now my computer is working it's time to get back to work. So much to catch up on. Melbourne Child magazine is publishing its "Bumper party" issue in May and so i am working hard to get an ad out in that. I need to keep this great blog updated, (as currently it is the only source to view the paper goods), and i need to get the website up and running, so that those of you who want to view the range without the rant can do so.

Here's a little sneak peek at Lilys Party and some of the items available in the Rainbow Range.

The plan is to get the post up about Lily's Rainbow Themed Party, tonight. I am still waiting on our professional shots of the mad hatter hens party too, so once they've been uploaded i can post on that and share those pics too.

I am off on a victory dinner this weekend. A girlfriend and I were trying to lose weight before my sisters big day and final weigh in was wednesday...the loss on both sides was pretty dismal, but i had the greatest loss and so a free meal i have won!!! It's certainly been my week for winning.

Enjoy your weekend all. I know i will
